Two individuals have been arrested following the discovery of 334 kilos of cocaine at the port of Vlissingen. Although the drug seizure took place on Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) only made the news public on Friday evening. The cocaine was hidden among a shipment of bananas from Colombia, with the OM estimating its street value at over 25 million euros.
As a result of the drug find, the detective team of the Zeeland-West Brabant unit of the Seaport Police launched a further investigation.

This investigation led to the arrest of a 55-year-old resident of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht on Friday. During a court-ordered search of his home, digital data carriers, administrative documents, cash, watches, and two vehicles were confiscated.
Later that same afternoon, a second suspect, a 26-year-old man with no fixed address, was arrested on the highway near Ede. Both suspects were taken into custody for further investigation and are currently under strict house arrest.
The drugs have been seized and subsequently destroyed by the Customs Special Task Force (TBB), according to the OM.
