The National Aeronaval Service (Senan), in collaboration with the Drug Prosecutor’s Office, recently confiscated 296 kilos of cocaine found on a beach on Taboga Island, Panama.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Senan agents discovered the cocaine during a routine patrol in an area known as Playa Ondita. Alongside the cocaine, authorities also uncovered 86 bags of marijuana. Investigations suggest the cocaine originated from Colombia and was hidden on the island, likely waiting to be transported to the mainland.

Reports indicate that islands in the Gulf of Panama are frequently used as drug trafficking routes for substances traveling from Colombia to Central America.
This operation is part of a broader effort to combat drug smuggling. Earlier this month, on November 11, Senan agents seized 2,276 kilos of cocaine on Jicarón Island in Veraguas Province. The drugs were found on a vessel manned by two Nicaraguans and one Costa Rican. Authorities have also intercepted significant drug shipments near Punta Mala in Los Santos Province.
So far this year, Panamanian authorities have confiscated approximately 97 tons of illegal substances, with much of it found in containers destined for the European market.
