Dutch customs officials have intercepted another large shipment of cocaine. During a routine inspection at the port of Vlissingen, they discovered 720 kilograms of cocaine concealed among a shipment of bananas from Ecuador.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the street value of the seized drugs is estimated at around 54 million euros. The cocaine has since been destroyed.
This is not the first time customs officials in Vlissingen have uncovered cocaine hidden in banana shipments from Ecuador. Earlier this year, similar discoveries were made, including 600 kilograms of cocaine in September and more than 3,600 kilograms in June.
Dutch authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat drug smuggling, particularly in the port of Vlissingen, which has become a key point of entry for such illicit cargo.
