99 Cocaine Bricks Seized In Guatemala

In a significant operation, authorities in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango, seized 99 packages of cocaine during a routine checkpoint. The bust took place on route CA-2, near the village of Las Palmas. Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis Subdirectorate (#SGAIA) stopped a black Toyota Rav4 van with the license plate P517KGD. When the driver ignored a stop sign, a chase ensued, ending about 900 meters later.

The driver, 42-year-old Jeremías “N”, tried to escape by entering a nearby house through an open gate. However, he was quickly apprehended by the #SGAIA officers.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, authorities found 96 packages in the trunk and three more wrapped in nylon in the back seats. Field tests confirmed that the contents were cocaine, indicating that the shipment was headed for the Mexican border.

After the seizure, the authorities coordinated with prosecutors from the Narcotics Public Ministry, who secured the narcotics for transport to #SGAIA storage facilities in zone 6 of the capital.
