Kyrgyz security forces recently seized a significant methamphetamine shipment valued at approximately 300 million soms (about $3.4 million). The drugs, weighing 67.6 kilograms, were discovered with a foreign national, who is now under investigation. This operation is believed to involve a larger smuggling network, suspected of routing drugs through Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan with final destinations planned for Hong Kong, via Kazakhstan.
Kyrgyz authorities report that the detainee was allegedly involved in orchestrating this transport, using complex routes to evade detection. This bust is one of the largest in Kyrgyzstan in recent years, underscoring the country’s expanding efforts to counteract large-scale drug trafficking along Central Asian routes. Investigations are underway to identify additional individuals associated with the network, as officials work to uncover broader connections in the region.
