Brazilian authorities intercepted a shipment containing 605 kilograms of cocaine at the busy Santos Port in São Paulo state. The cocaine was concealed within a container holding 13 tons of frozen açaí fruit, intended for export.
The Brazilian Customs Service announced that officers uncovered the drugs during a routine inspection. The shipment was bound for the Moroccan port of Tanger Med, with an eventual destination of Portugal. During a detailed examination, customs officers discovered cocaine stashed in four of the eighteen crates within the container.
The customs emphasized that export shipments undergo rigorous inspections, including scanning, to ensure the security of trade and to combat illegal activities. Once the presence of cocaine was confirmed, the case was handed over to the federal police for further investigation and to initiate legal proceedings.
