In a successful operation on November 8, 2024, the National Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 600 kilograms of cocaine from Guayaquil to Bulgaria. Authorities detained five individuals after a routine inspection of an export container revealed hidden drug bricks.
The operation, led by anti-narcotics agents, uncovered the illicit cargo concealed within jute sacks, blending in with legitimate goods meant for export. The drugs were set to be shipped overseas, but police managed to intercept the shipment before it could leave the port.

The seized cocaine, worth millions on the black market, was being transported in a trailer, which was also confiscated during the operation. Authorities have launched further investigations into the suspects and the broader drug trafficking network involved.
While the exact location of the inspection was not disclosed, the police shared images of the discovery, showing the neatly packed blocks of cocaine. This interception marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against international drug trafficking.
