550 Kilos of Drugs Seized in Chicken Truck Bust

550 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in Chicken Truck Bust

Brazil: Thursday night (14th), the General Investigations Section (SIG) of Nova Andradina teamed up with the Regional Intelligence Unit (NRI) to nab a 46-year-old man in the act of drug trafficking. He was caught with 550 kilos of a substance resembling cocaine, cleverly hidden in a refrigerated truck during a stop at a gas station in Batayporã.

The operation kicked off thanks to a tip about a significant drug shipment. The NRI provided crucial information that confirmed the lead, prompting the investigators to head to the location. When they got there, they zeroed in on a truck that matched the description from the tip.

Approaching the driver, the situation unfolded quickly. He confessed that he was carrying “the wrong stuff” and allowed the police to inspect his cargo.

What they found was quite the setup. The truck was officially transporting about six tons of frozen chicken, but hidden within the refrigeration unit was a hefty stash of drugs. After testing, the substance was identified as being akin to cocaine.

The driver was taken into custody and charged with drug trafficking at the local police station. The drugs were seized, and following a court order, they were incinerated early Friday morning (15th) as part of standard procedure.
