5 Tons of Cocaine Found in Colombian Narco-Submarine Near French Territory

A Colombian-origin semi-submersible was intercepted off the coast of Clipperton Island, a French territory, carrying a significant load of cocaine hydrochloride. Colombian Navy sources verified that the “narco-submarine” was packed with around five tons of the illicit drug when apprehended.

In an interview with Semana, Vice Admiral Harry Reyna, the Navy’s second-in-command, provided details of the operation. He confirmed that the semi-submersible, holding roughly five tons of cocaine, was detected in waters south of Clipperton Island, about 1,250 miles away.

The Colombian Navy took part in this international operation. “We seized a semi-submersible loaded with more than five tons of cocaine hydrochloride,” Vice Admiral Reyna reported.

Following the interception, Colombian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the intended recipients of the estimated $16 billion shipment. “Once the investigation is complete, we will identify which criminal organization was behind this cargo,” the Vice Admiral shared in an exclusive statement to Semana.

The Vice Admiral also indicated that suspects had been detained in connection with the seizure, though specifics about those involved remain undisclosed.
