350 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in Ensenada Port Operation

350 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in Ensenada Port Mexico

In an operation reflecting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, the Mexican Navy, specifically from the Second Naval Region, executed a significant seizure at the bustling port of Ensenada in Baja California. The operation, which unfolded during a routine inspection, uncovered a substantial cache of cocaine.

During a standard security sweep, Navy personnel, in collaboration with the Maritime Customs, scrutinized two containers at the port facility. Within one container, hidden inside seven cardboard boxes, they discovered approximately 300 packages. These packages contained what is preliminarily identified as cocaine hydrochloride, commonly known as cocaine powder. The total weight of the contraband was estimated at around 350 kilograms.

Each package bore the label “Infinito” (Infinity), along with its symbol, a branding that has appeared in previous drug interdictions. While the exact criminal organization behind these packages remains unidentified, the recurring use of such a symbol might suggest an attempt to create a brand identity within the drug trade, potentially for recognition or to signify quality or origin.

350 Kilos of Cocaine Seized in Ensenada Port Operation

Ensenada serves as a critical node in the drug trafficking routes due to its strategic location along the Pacific coast, close to the US border. This port has been a frequent target for both smugglers and law enforcement due to its significance in the maritime trade.

The operation was carried out with meticulous attention to detail. Upon suspicion, the Navy requested assistance from the Customs Authority, which allowed for a thorough examination of the containers. The coordination between different branches of law enforcement highlights an effective strategy in tackling maritime drug smuggling.

Following the discovery, the Mexican Navy handed over the seized substances to the relevant judicial authorities for further legal proceedings. This step is crucial for forensic analysis to confirm the substance’s identity and purity, and for tracing back the supply chain to dismantle the networks involved.
